Show times are Feb. 21 at 8 PM, Feb. 22 at 3 and 8 PM and Feb. 23 at 2 and 8 PM. Ticket prices range $50-$60, and $25 tickets for those under the age of 35 are available for Saturday and Sunday evening shows. The 92nd Street Y is also offering a special promotion for the Feb. 22 and 23 shows: those who bring a Playbill or a theatre ticket stub (for Broadway, Off-Broadway shows) can get 50 percent off the ticket price at the box office.
Zippel, who is artistic director, also hosts the evenings, which feature musical direction by Christopher Marlowe. The starry list of vocalists includes Broadway actors Kate Baldwin, Kevin Earley, Tony winner Debbie Gravitte, Danny Gurwin and Tony winner Lillias White.
In the concerts, press notes state, "Tony Award-winning, Oscar-nominated lyricist of City of Angels and Disney's animated 'Hercules' and 'Mulan,' presents highlights from his own scores and shares his inspirations and personal favorites from the American Songbook."
The first half of the evening will feature such Zippel songs as "All Girl Band," "Camel's Blues," "Cold Hard Cash," "Gotta Go West," "Double Talk," "With Every Breath I Take," "You're Nothing Without Me" and "My Rules"/"You're Living on an Elliot Garfield Grant." The second half will feature Zippel favorites "The Best Is Yet to Come," "Dear Friend," "A Wonderful Guy," "A Case of You," "Not a Day Goes By," "Some Other Time," "This Is the Time" and two versions of "New York, New York," among others.
