American Ballet Theatre prima ballerina Misty Copeland's life will be portrayed in a film, coming from New Line, according to a report on Deadline.
The first African-American woman to be promoted to principal with the ABT also starred on Broadway last August and September in the revival of On the Town. She played the role of aspiring ballerina Ivy Smith. It remains to be seen if the Broadway engagement will be part of the film.
The film company acquired the rights to her biography, Life In Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina, which will be adapted by Gregory Allen (Remember the Titans).
Casting, director and production timetable have yet to be reported.
