Classic Arts News Ballet Pacifica Names Executive Director and School Director Evelyn Cisneros-Legate, a longtime principal dancer with San Francisco Ballet, has been named director of Ballet Pacifica's school, the Orange County Register reports.
The Southern California-based company also named interim managing director Melody Wolfgram as executive director. She replaces Tom Gulick, who stepped down in March.

Cisneros-Legate will replace former American Ballet Theatre dancer Amanda McKerrow, who has been serving as interim director of the Ballet Pacifica Academy as well as ballet mistress. McKerrow recently announced that she would leave the company in August.

Lorin Johnson, the last permanent director of the academy, left in December 2005.

The two appointments mark the beginning of the rebuilding of the company after the resignations of Gulick and artistic director Ethan Stiefel, who left after the company failed to raise the money to carry out his ambitious 2006-07 plans.

The Register also reported that Ballet Pacifica had signed a three-year contract to perform The Nutcracker at the 756-seat Irvine Barclay Theatre. Under Stiefel, the company had planned to perform the work at the larger Orange County Performing Arts Center.
