Off-Broadway News Balls Cancels Performances Due to Actor Injury Ellen Tamaki, who stars as Billie Jean King, is in recovery and will be ready to perform again February 7.

One Year Lease theatre company has canceled performances of Balls at 59E59 Theaters through February 7 due to an injury sustained by Ellen Tamaki during the February 2 evening performance. Tamaki plays Billie Jean King in Kevin Armento and Bryony Lavery’s theatrical re-telling of the real-life 1973 Battle of the Sexes tennis match between King and Bobby Riggs.

Performances of Balls will resume on February 8 at 7 PM. The Off-Broadway run began January 16 and is scheduled through February 25.

The production features direction by Ianthe Demos and Nick Flint, with movement direction by Natalie Lomonte. The cast is completed by Danny Bernardy, Donald Corren, Alex J. Gould, Danté Jeanfelix, Zakiya Iman Markland, Olivia McGiff, Elisha Mudly, Cristina Pitter, and Richard Saudek.
