Brooklynites can hear the sound of Sondheim March 21-22, when Brooklyn Academy Of Music offers "The Music Of Stephen Sondheim," a symphonic evening of tunes by the great American musical theatre composer. The concert is scheduled to open with Maurice Ravel's "Le Tombeau de Couperin," but it's all Sondheim thereafter, including the New York premiere of his "Dance Suite From Pacific Overtures." Sondheim has long acknowledged Ravel as a major influence, and the BAM season booklet urges listeners to compare and contrast themes from "Tombeau" and Overtures.
