News Barrus Stars in West Coast Premiere of Songs From an Unmade Bed Beginning June 4 Songs From an Unmade Bed, the acclaimed song cycle originally presented at New York Theatre Workshop, makes its West Coast premiere June 4 at the Celebration Theatre in Hollywood.

Directed by Patrick Pearson, the one-man show will officially open at the California venue June 6. The limited engagement — starring Dave Barrus — will play through Aug. 10.

Songs From an Unmade Bed is described as "a solo song cycle for tenor and three musicians that propels a smart, resilient, wry, and ultimately romantic gay New Yorker through the heartaches and triumphs of love in the big city." With lyrics by Mark Campbell, the production features music by such composers as Debra Barsha, Mark Bennett, Peter Foley, Jenny Giering, Peter Golub, Jake Heggie , Stephen Hoffman, Lance Horne, Gihieh Lee, Steven Lutvak, Steve Marzullo, Brendan Milburn, Chris Miller, Greg Pliska, Kim D. Sherman, Duncan Sheik, Jeffrey Stock and Joseph Thalken.

The design team for the production includes set designer Kurt Boetcher, lighting designer Tim Swiss and costume designer Mizzy Matches. David Tarlow produces.

Dave Barrus has been seen on Broadway and in the national tour of Les Misérables. His other theatrical credits include Great Expectations, The Boys Next Door, Sweeney Todd, Evita and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Barrus also appeared in the Actors Fund benefit concert of "Chess." He was awarded the 1999 Pearl Award for Best New Artist and Best Male Vocalist for his solo albums "Onstage" and "Onstage II" and is the co-founder of The Broadway Dreams Foundation.

Songs From an Unmade Bed played New York Theatre Workshop May 12-June 19, 2005, starring Michael Winther. Show times are Thursday-Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at 3 PM.
