Bass Kurt Moll, who was scheduled to star in the Bavarian State Opera's new production of Wagner's Der fliegende Holl‹nder (The Flying Dutchman), has withdrawn, the company announced.

Moll injured himself recently when he slipped on a patch of ice and fell, according to the company.

The State Opera's staging is directed by the controversial Peter Konwitschny and conducted by Adam Fisher. The cast includes Anja Kampe as Senta and the American tenor Stephen Gould as Erik.
