BBC Launches New Competition for Young Musicians

Classic Arts News   BBC Launches New Competition for Young Musicians

The BBC is looking for young classical musicians with "star quality" to take part in a new competition which will be filmed and shown in a 5-part BBC TV series.

The competition is open to those 19 or under who have attained at least Grade 8 standard (the British pre-college system followed by most young musicians). The prize is a recording contract with a major label.

Auditions will be held around the UK in May and July; musicians will then be selected to attend a specialist residential music academy for three weeks during August.

The winner will be chosen after the finalists perform at a major concert venue, which will be announced at a later date.

The competition is organized by Shine Limited, a British media company. Visit www.apply.shinelimited.com/classicalstar/ to register for an audition.
