Classic Arts News BBC Launches New Competition for Young Musicians The BBC is looking for young classical musicians with "star quality" to take part in a new competition which will be filmed and shown in a 5-part BBC TV series.
The competition is open to those 19 or under who have attained at least Grade 8 standard (the British pre-college system followed by most young musicians). The prize is a recording contract with a major label.

Auditions will be held around the UK in May and July; musicians will then be selected to attend a specialist residential music academy for three weeks during August.

The winner will be chosen after the finalists perform at a major concert venue, which will be announced at a later date.

The competition is organized by Shine Limited, a British media company. Visit www.apply.shinelimited.com/classicalstar/ to register for an audition.
