During the week of Feb. 16 the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA) grant committee approved $798,500 in grants to be distributed to 253 AIDS service organizations across the U.S. Grants in amounts from $1000-$5000 are earmarked for community-based organizations providing direct care or services to people with AIDS and HIV. These services include -- but are not limited to -- meal programs, transportation, clothing and emergency financial assistance programs.

The next round of grants will be allocated later this year, and a spokesperson said that the committee is hoping to steadily increase the amount of money it distributes.
