The not-for-profit Broadway Inspirational Voices was originally founded by actor Michael McElroy (Big River, Rent) in 1994 as the Broadway Gospel Choir. The group was reincarnated into its current form in 1999 as The Broadway Inspirational Voices. The Broadway Inspirational Voices' second album, "Great Joy: A Gospel Christmas," was released on Sh-K-Boom Records in 2003 and received a Grammy Award nomination. BIV's mission "is to bring people of all races and religious backgrounds together to explore and perform traditional American Musical art forms with an emphasis on Gospel music."
