Torontans will get a taste of the fun children and adults had at NY's recent "Kids Night On Broadway" when Disney's Beauty And The Beast holds an "Open House" March 11 at the Princess Of Wales Theatre.
The event will provide families with on-stage tours, including an up-close look at the Beast's enchanted castle. Steve Blanchard (the Beast) and Melissa Thomson (Belle) and the rest of the cast will be on hand to meet and greet at the 3 hour event, 1-4 PM. Contests, prizes and autographs will be part of the mix, and face painters will also give lucky winners a "beastly" make-up job.
Beauty facts dispensed that afternoon will include: how many pieces of scenery are used (over 1,000 -- and it takes C$5 million of computer equipment to coordinate it), and that if you put all the lights in the show together, you could light up a stadium the size of the SkyDome.
As another way of bringing younger viewers to the show, the show will offer discount tickets to children 12-and-under. If an adult purchases one full-price ticket, two additional "kids" tickets may be purchased for only C$25. These cheaper tickets, which apply to any seat in the house, are available at all performances except weekday matinees.
