News Beautiful Tony Nominee Part of New Musical BLooM! Reading A developmental reading of the new musical BLooM! is presented Nov. 18 at the Elektra Theatre.

The musical, conceived and written by Melvin Tunstall III, is directed by Amy Anders Corcoran with musical supervision by Wendy Bobbitt Cavett. Show time is 1 PM.

Alysha Deslorieux leads a cast that includes Sydney Morton, Alexa Green, Corey Mach, E. Clayton Cornelious, Danette Holden, Laurie Veldheer and Tony nominee Liz Larsen.

The featured ensemble includes Jennifer Blood, Andrew Brewer, Ken Cavett, Janelle Davis, Zac Denham, Carly Evan Hughes, Paul Jordan Jansen, Audrey Rae McHale, Lexi Rhoades, Noah Ricketts, Josh Rothberg, Sara Shepard, Marc Thompson, Kay Trinidad, Kelsy Walston and Alan Wiggins.

According to the author, BLooM! is a "modern fairytale about overcoming the obstacles that prevent us from fulfilling our destiny. Set in an enchanted flower kingdom against the backdrop of the competitive world of pageantry, the story follows a flower, Lily, to the botanical metropolis of Thyme Square as she competes to be Spring’s first flower to bloom: the Bloom Princess. When a forbidden attraction to a handsome Moonbeam defies everything she was brought up to believe, Lily must choose between the laws of Mother Nature and the rules of attraction in order to find out her true destiny."
