Joining Neuwirth on stage will be Brenda Braxton, Scott Cady, Jason Danieley, Brian d'Arcy James, Dan Lipton, Marin Mazzie and Roger Rees as well as the Dantee Keihn Dance Company. The evening begins at 7 PM with a reception followed by the 8 PM performance.
"I am so happy to have the opportunity to put on a show with my friends for these two fantastic organizations," said Neuwirth in a statement. "Henry Street Settlement and Equine Advocates are terrific."
The partnership between Henry Street Settlement, a social service, arts and health care agency in Manhattan, and Equine Advocates, a Chatham, NY-based rescue organization, brings Henry Street clients — many of them living in homeless shelters — to the sanctuary to learn about the rescued horses, see them close-up and even pet and groom them.
"These visits to Equine Advocates Horse Sanctuary have proven to be a transformative experience for both children and adults," said David Garza, executive director of Henry Street. Susan Wagner, president and founder of Equine Advocates, added "The connection between rescued horses and many of the children and adults who visit from Henry Street is both profound and heartwarming. It helps to bring about a greater understanding that abuse in any form toward any living being is completely unacceptable."
Henry Street Settlement/Abrons Arts Center is located in Manhattan at 466 Grand Street. Tickets for this performance, to be held in Henry Street’s historic playhouse, are $1,000, $500 and $250. Purchasers of the $1,000 tickets are invited to a backstage reception with Neuwirth. All ticket holders are invited to a pre-show reception at 7 PM. Proceeds will benefit both Henry Street and Equine Advocates. Some tickets are still available through the Henry Street Settlement website.
