Becoming Adele to Play Theatre Row

News   Becoming Adele to Play Theatre Row Eric Houston's Becoming Adele is set to make its New York premiere at the Clurman Theatre in Theatre Row in a production by Gotham Stage Company, Dec. 15-Jan. 6. Opening night is Dec. 20.

Victor Mago will direct the comedy, which stars Kimberly Stern. The production has scenic design by Antje Ellermann, costume design by Myrna Colley-Lee, sound design by Elizabeth Rhodes and lighting design by Lucas Benjaminh Krech. Becoming Adele had its world premiere at the Court Theatre in Los Angeles. According to a release, the play "follows the irrepressible Adele, a spunky Brooklyn waitress, as she tries to carve out a better future for herself and her daughter while learning to live each moment to the fullest as she becomes the Adele she was meant to be."

Houston has had plays produced at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, the Village Theatre and several regional venues. Gotham Stage Company was founded in 2005 by Michael Barra, Peter Smith, Julia Haubner Smith and Katie Dietz and had its first production in spring 2006 with Sake with the Haiku Geisha at The Perry Street Theater.
