After the two successful plays No One to Be Blamed and Get Lost, China Youth Arts Theatre and China Theatre, Film and TV Research Institute will jointly present Settle the Past , the third production of their Philistine Trilogy Nov. 5-9.

The playwright, Mr. Ar Ding, is an established writer and poet widely known as "Black Horse" in the theatrical circle. The play was written in a style of strong Beijing dialect, plain and lively, humorous and emotional.

The play describes the complicated feelings of Mr. Cui Dajun, a millionaire at present who had experienced enormous hardships in the 1960's . He recalls the days thirty years ago, when he was one of the school leaders in cities who, for political reasons, were sent to live and work in the countryside of Northeast China as a member of a production team. He neither forgets the kind hearted people of the area, nor the political hypocrites and devils.

Settle the Past stars Lin Liankun and Hou Yuehua. The cast also includes Zhang Ju, Lu Wen, Yang Lei, Li Yuhua. It is directed by Mr. Yan Zhongying, the nation's leading director who is in his seventies.

Settle the Past runs 7:15pm, Nov. 5-9 at the Beijing Children's Arts Theater, Dong An Men Street. For tickets call 86-010-64041752. --by Wang Ling
