News Belber, Foote, Hortua, Reno, Wright and Tectonic Theater Plays Set for "Brand:NEW" Fest in CT, June 9-13 Hartford Stage has nabbed new plays by Stephen Belber, David Cale, Daisy Foote, Joe Hortua, Reno, Edwin Sánchez, Craig Wright and the Tectonic Theater Project for its "Brand:NEW Festival of New Works," June 9-13.

The fifth annual event will also include an evening of short plays by the winners of Write On!, Hartford Stage’s 3rd annual teenage playwriting competition. Running at the Connecticut venue's mainstage will be the world premiere production of Peter & Jerry by Edward Albee. The schedule of "Brand:NEW 2004" is as follows:

  • June 9 - 7:30 PM A Moment of Dignity - by Write On! winners
  • June 9 & 10 - 10 PM A new show by Reno
  • June 10 - 7:30 PM Grace by Craig Wright (directed by Michael Wilson)
  • June 11 - 7:30 PM World Thrown Tizzy by Joe Hortua (directed by Jeremy B. Cohen)
  • June 12 - 12 PM Bhutan by Daisy Foote (directed by Evan Yionulis)
  • June 12 - 4 PM Stories from Jonestown and the Peoples Temple by Leigh Fondakowski with Greg Pierotti, Stephen Wangh and Margo Hall (performed by Tectonic Theatre Company)
  • June 12 - 7:30 PM For Reele by Stephen Belber
  • June 13 -12 PM Playwrights Panel
  • June 13 - 4 PM La Bella Familia by Edwin Sánchez
  • June 13 -7:30 PM A Likely Story written and performed by David Cale "Brand:NEW" readings will be held at Hartford Stage’s Rehearsal Studios, 942 Main Street (The Richardson Building/Marriott Residence Inn) in Hartford, CT. Select readings will take place in the John Huntington stage (at 50 Church Street). Limited seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information, visit www.hartfordstage.org.
