News Bellantoni, McDonald, Fitzgibbons and James to Battle in Sword Politik for MITF The world premiere of Jon Crefeld's The Sword Politik — part of the 10th annual Midtown International Theatre Festival — will play the Dorothy Streslin Theatre.

Hudson Shakespeare Company artistic director Jon Ciccarelli will stage the production that runs July 15-30.

The cast features Paul Bellantoni, Jon Crefeld, Kerry Fitzgibbons, Sharon Hunter, Bethany James, Patrick Long, Ryan McCabe, Katherine McDonald, and Billy Weimer. Fight choreography is by Michael Hagins.

The Sword Politik, according to press notes, "tells the story of a fateful power struggle in 10th century Germania. Not only are the Savages invading, but the Baron is dead and his daughter is the only heiress. But women cannot bear arms, and she must be married to a man who can protect the Barony. Whoever that man is will control her and the balance of power in Germania, so an adventurous quest for power develops as every man fights for the Baroness' hand and for control of the Sword Politik."

The Sword Politik was originally workshopped at Hudson Shakespeare Company in 2005.
