News Bells Are Ringing in Pasadena on Feb. 1 Tami Tappan will star in a rare performance of Bells Are Ringing, the 1956 musical by Betty Comden, Adolph Green and Julie Styne, on Feb. 1 at the Pasadena Playhouse. Tami Tappan will star in a rare performance of Bells Are Ringing, the 1956 musical by Betty Comden, Adolph Green and Julie Styne, on Feb. 1 at the Pasadena Playhouse. The musical is the third offering of the "Broadway in Concert Series." Gerry McIntyre is the director, Jeff Rizzo the musical director. Tappan plays Ella Peterson (a part made famous by Judy Holliday), the gabby, wisecracking operator at Susanswerphone. Tappan starred in the Broadway and L.A. versions of Miss Saigon. Joining her in the cast are Michael G. Hawkins, James Gleason, Carol Kline, Bob Amaral and Tom Hatten.
