John Belluso's dark comedy Gretty Good Time will make its New York premiere Jan. 24, 1999 at NYC's Ensemble Studio Theatre. The play started previews Jan. 20 and runs through Feb. 7, 1999.

Set in 1955, Good Time is the story of Gretty, paralyzed and living in a nursing home. Through her imagination and two dream visitors - Hideko, a young Japanese woman disfigured by the bomb at Hiroshima, and Ralph Edwards, host of "This Is Your Life" -- Gretty journeys through her past to confront her pain.

Belluso's other plays include Traveling Skin, Challenger, The Rules of Charity and Knot Stew. He was a recipient of the 1995 John Golden Playwriting Prize. Stew, which featured actress Kyra Sedgwick in New York, won the Moving Arts Premier One-Act Competition in Los Angeles.

Susann Brinkley (Peter Weller's Mistresses, Wendy MacLeod's The Shallow End) directs Fiona Gallagher (Gretty), Anna Li, Richard Paul and Dolores Sutton.

Dan Kuchar designed the sets; Amela Baksic, the costumes; Greg MacPherson, the lighting and Jeremy M. Posner, the sound. Ticket are $12 and available by calling 212-247-4982. The Ensemble Studio Theatre is located at 549 West 52nd Street between 10th and 11th Avenues.
