Violet and A Little Night Music actor Ben Davis will step into Irish Repertory Theatre's revival of On a Clear Day You Can See Forever in the role of Dr. Mark Bruckner beginning August 9.

The actor will succeed Stephen Bogardus in the extended, Off-Broadway production, now playing through September 6.

Irish Rep's On a Clear Day You Can See Forever began performances June 15 ahead of a June 28 opening. The Alan Jay Lerner and Burton Lane musical is adapted and directed by Artistic Director Charlotte Moore and stars Tony nominee Melissa Errico.

In the 1965 musical, a young woman (Errico) goes to a psychiatrist to cure her smoking, but instead, through hypnosis, discovers that she is the reincarnation of a well-born English lady.

The cast of On a Clear Day You Can See Forever also includes Florrie Bagel (Jerry Springer: The Opera) as Sally/Flora, William Bellamy (The Emperor Jones) as Hubert Insdale, Rachel Coloff (Urinetown) as Mrs. Hatch/Mrs. Welles, Peyton Crim (Finian’s Rainbow) as Chairman Latimer/Solicitor Trundle, John Cudia (The Phantom of the Opera) as Edward Moncrief, Caitlin Gallogly (Silicon Valley) as Janie Preston, Matt Gibson (Ragtime) as Warren Smith, Daisy Hobbs (Aladdin) as Muriel Benson, and Craig Waletzko (Kinky Boots national tour) as Dr. Conrad Fuller/Mr. Samuel Welles.

The production features music direction by John Bell (Fiddler on the Roof), choreography by Barry McNabb (Finian’s Rainbow), and orchestrations by Josh Clayton (Donnybrook!). Gary Adler (Escape to Margaritaville) conducts.
