Playbill has confirmed that Dear Evan Hansen star Ben Platt will not perform in both the matinee and evening performances of the new musical June 10. As previously announced, the Tony nominee was put on vocal rest and had missed the June 9 show.
Understudy Colton Ryan will instead go on in the title role for the June 10 performances at the Music Box Theatre.
Platt shared a message on Twitter June 9, saying that he is certain he will be able to perform at the Tony Awards ceremony June 11—and that he hopes to return to the Broadway production over the weekend.

Dear Evan Hansen tells the story of a teenage boy trying to find his way during the chaos of high school. The show is nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Direction of a Musical, and Best Original Score.
In addition to Platt, Rachel Bay Jones, and Mike Faist are nominated for their performances.
The original musical features a score by the Oscar-winning and Tony and Emmy-nominated songwriting team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dogfight, A Christmas Story), a book by Tony nominee Steven Levenson (Masters of Sex), choreography by Danny Mefford (Fun Home), and direction by multiple Tony nominee Michael Greif (Rent, Next to Normal, If/Then).
