News Ben Vereen to Appear at Concert Paying Tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mahalia Jackson Tony Award winner Ben Vereen will appear at Sing Mahalia! Preach Martin!, a concert in honor of Mahalia Jackson and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Jan. 16 at 2 PM at Marble Collegiate Church.

Vereen will be joined by the Marble Community Gospel Choir, Grammy Award nominee Damien Sneed and the Levites.

Vereen, a Tony Award winner for Pippin, has also appeared on Broadway in Wicked, Fosse, I'm Not Rappaport, Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Grind, Jelly's Last Jam and A Christmas Carol. He appeared in the Broadway and Las Vegas productions of Chicago, and is a semi-regular on the CBS sitcom "How I Met Your Mother." His CD, Steppin' Out with Ben Vereen, will be released in February.
