Partly spoken and partly sung, the new performance piece, commissioned from poet, essayist, and scholar Anne Carson, is based on Euripides’ Greek tragedy of Helen.

Norma Jeane Baker of Troy was written for actor Ben Whishaw (Bright Star; Mary Poppins Returns; Skyfall; Broadway’s The Crucible), with Tony-nominated soprano Renée Fleming (Carousel, Living on Love).

The production will be staged by Katie Mitchell (National Theatre’s The Seagull, Royal Court Theatre’s Anatomy of a Suicide) with music by Paul Clark (co-founder of Clod Ensemble).
