The Creative Arts Awards will be webcast on TonyAwards.com June 7 at 7 PM ET. "You can see the presentations, acceptance speeches, and everything else that happens on stage—as if you were sitting in the Radio City auditorium," according to the Tony Awards website.
Which awards will be presented during this period have yet to be announced, although last season's pre-telecast included the presentation of Best Scenic Design of a Play, Best Scenic Design of a Musical, Best Costume Design of a Play, Best Costume Design of a Musical, Best Lighting Design of a Play, Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Best Sound Design of a Play, Best Sound Design of a Musical and Best Orchestrations.
Neil Patrick Harris will host the annual Tony ceremony live from Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan. CBS-TV will broadcast the event beginning at 8 PM ET.
Presenters are scheduled to include Lucie Arnaz, Kate Burton, Kristin Chenoweth, Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis, Edie Falco, Will Ferrell, Carrie Fisher, Jane Fonda, Hallie Foote, James Gandolfini, Lauren Graham, Colin Hanks, Marcia Gay Harden, Nicole Kidman, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Lange, Frank Langella, Angela Lansbury, Samantha Mathis, Audra McDonald, Lin-Manuel Miranda, David Hyde Pierce, Piper Perabo, Oliver Platt, Susan Sarandon, Kevin Spacey, John Stamos and Chandra Wilson.
Brian Stokes Mitchell, who will be seen this summer in Guys and Dolls in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl, earned a Tony nomination for his performance in the title role of Man of La Mancha. He won the 2000 Tony, Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk awards for his performance as Fred Graham/Petruchio in Kiss Me, Kate, and his other Broadway credits include lead roles in King Hedley II; Ragtime; Kiss of the Spider Woman; Jelly's Last Jam; Oh, Kay!; Mail; and the City Center Encores! mountings of Kismet, Do Re Mi and Carnival. Television audiences will be familiar with Mitchell's work from his roles on "Trapper John, M.D.," "Roots" and "Frasier." Mitchell was elected the 12th president of the Actors' Fund of America, and he has performed in concert halls and cabarets around the country. His Playbill Records CD is entitled "Brian Stokes Mitchell." Laura Benanti earned a 2008 Best Supporting Actress Tony Award for her performance in the title role of the Arthur Laurents-helmed revival of Gypsy starring Patti LuPone. She also earned Tony nominations for her work in Swing! and Into the Woods. Her Broadway appearances also include Nine, The Sound of Music and The Wedding Singer. She was recently seen Off-Broadway in Why Torture Is Wrong, and the People Who Love Them.
