News Benefit Concert Reading of Ruthless, The Musical Set for Aug. 21 Thom Christopher Warren and Jim Ferris, who star in the national tour of The Lion King, will produce a concert of Ruthless, The Musical to benefit the AIDS fund.

The Aug. 21 concert of Joal Paley and Marvin Laird's award-winning musical will be presented at Philadelphia's Plays and Players Theatre. Brandy Panfili, who played the title role in the Walnut Street Theatre's production of Annie, will star as the Ruthless Tina. The cast for the one-night-only event will also feature Elyse Davidson, Bridget Beirne, Alice Evans and co-producer Warren. Annette Jolles will direct the 7:30 PM concert with musical direction by Mark Weissman and designs by Jaesin Goldsberry.

"Eight-year-old Tina Denmark knows she was born to play Pippi Longstocking," reads Ruthless production notes, "and she will do anything to win the part in her school musical. Anything includes murdering the leading lady!"
