News   Benton, Spector, Stanton, Gerroll and Wooddell Set for Dissonance at Bay Street

Tony Award-nominated director Lonny Price will make music with Rosie Benton, Morgan Spector and Robert Stanton in the Bay Street Theatre production of Damian Lanigan's Dissonance.

Running June 1-27, Price (Master Harold… A Class Act) will helm the play about a quartet who gets the chance of a lifetime to play Carnegie Hall.

The cast will include Benton (Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Accent on Youth) as Beth, Spector (A View From The Bridge, The Lion King) as Hal, Stanton (Coast Of Utopia, Mary Stuart) as Paul, as well as Daniel Gerroll ("The Starter Wife," "Ugly Betty") as James and Gregory Wooddell (Cymbeline, Some Men) as Jonny.

Dissonance, according to Bay Street, "centers around a professional string quartet in the midst of rehearsing for a once-in-a-lifetime performance at Carnegie Hall. As the quartet bickers, the history of their entangled relationships unfolds. Tensions heighten further as the only woman in the group has a chance meeting with a successful rock star."

Designing the production are Jim Noone (set design), Tracy Christensen (costume design), Kirk Bookman (lighting design) and Jill B.C. DuBoff (sound design).

Dissonance marks Lanigan's playwrighting debut. He is a writer for the BBC and has penned several novels. Price staged the New York Philharmonic presentations of Camelot, Sweeney Todd and Candide. Price has directed the Broadway productions of 110 in the Shade, Urban Cowboy, Sally Marr… and her escorts, as well as A Class Act in which he also starred. As an actor Price has appeared in Merrily We Roll Along, Burn This, Rags and Broadway. He is also slated to helm the revival of Neil Simon's The Sunshine Boys, starring Richard Benjamin and Elliott Gould. He staged a reading of the play for the Roundabout Theatre Company earlier this spring.
