Tony winners Bernadette Peters and Gregory Hines will host the American Theatre Wing's 56th Annual Antoinette Perry "Tony" Awards, which will be broadcast live on June 2.

Peters, who was last on Broadway in the hit revival of Annie Get Your Gun, has been awarded two Tonys for Best Actress in a Musical, for the Annie Get Your Gun revival and for her work in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Song & Dance. She received Tony nominations for her roles in On the Town, Mack & Mabel, Sunday in the Park with George and The Goodbye Girl, and she also starred in the original production of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods. Peters will make her solo Radio City Music Hall concert debut June 19, and she is scheduled to return to Broadway next season in a revival of Gypsy.

Gregory Hines won his Tony Award for his performance in Jelly's Last Jam. He also received a Tony nomination for Best Choreography — along with Hope Clarke and Ted L. Levy — for that same musical. Hines' other Tony nominations were for his work in Eubie!, Comin' Uptown and Sophisticated Ladies. Hines previously co-hosted the annual salute to Broadway's best in 1994 when he shared hosting duties with Tony winners Glenn Close and Nathan Lane.

The American Theatre Wing's 56th Annual Antoinette Perry "Tony" Awards ceremony will also be broadcast live on television. PBS stations begin the national telecast at 8 PM EST with "The First Ten Awards: Tonys 2002," produced for PBS by Thirteen/WNET New York. CBS will televise "The 2002 Tony Awards" beginning at 9 PM.

Radio City Music Hall is located on Sixth Avenue between 50th Street and 51st Street in New York City.
