News Bernard, of TV's "Wings," Is New Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun Tour, April 17 A Southern accent always slipped into Crystal Bernard's Nantucket waitress character on TV's "Wings," and now the actress gets to play country girl full-out when she joins the national tour of Annie Get Your Gun, as Annie Oakley, in Atlanta, April 17-22.

A Southern accent always slipped into Crystal Bernard's Nantucket waitress character on TV's "Wings," and now the actress gets to play country girl full-out when she joins the national tour of Annie Get Your Gun, as Annie Oakley, in Atlanta, April 17-22. At Atlanta's palatial Fox Theatre, Rex Smith re-joins the tour as Frank Butler after a hiatus, singing Irving Berlin hits opposite Bernard. He'll perform the role in Atlanta, Knoxville, Huntsville, AL, and Naples, FL, before starring in the national tour of Kiss Me, Kate. Tom Wopat will rejoin the tour for the last three cities on the schedule: Hershey, PA, Raleigh, NC, and Sacramento, CA. (June 5-10).

Bernard appeared in TV's "Happy Days" and "It's a Living." She has been singing gospel music since the age of three, when she toured with her father. She sang a hit song, "(I Wanna Take) Forever Tonight," with Peter Cetera, and is a songwriter whose work has been recorded by pop artists such as Paula Abdul, Lisa Stansfield and Tracie Spencer.

Karen Quackenbush is the current Annie, in Sarasota, FL, through April 15. The Broadway revival of the musical comedy continues to be a hit, now that Reba McEntire is in the role of the lady sharpshooter.
