News Bernard Telsey Elected to Academy Board of Governors Casting director and MCC Theater co-founder Bernard Telsey has been elected to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Board of Governors.

Telsey, who is represented with such shows as "Smash," Motown, Kinky Boots, Wicked, Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark, Newsies and First Date, has been elected to a two-year term on the Academy Board of Governors along with fellow casting directors David Rubin, who was elected to a three-year term, and Lora Kennedy, who was elected to a one-year term.

"The addition of these exceptional professionals to our board is another positive step toward making our organization more inclusive and more reflective of the broader industry," Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs said in a statement. "We welcome them, their ideas and their insights wholeheartedly."
