News "Best in Show" Star Fred Willard Judges Mamet's Romance in Los Angeles Fred Willard will sit in judgement as the head of the courtroom in the Los Angeles Theatre Works' presentation of David Mamet's Romance, joining Ed Begley, Jr., Gordon Clapp and others.

Original Off-Broadway director Neil Pepe stages the work which plays April 5-9 as part of the radio theatre series "The Play's The Thing" featuring live performances at the Skirball Cultural Center and will be recorded for future radio broadcast.

Willard ("Waiting for Guffman," "Best in Show") joins the previously announced cast of Ed Begley, Jr., Gordon Clapp, Noah Bean, Steven Goldstein and Rod McLachlan in the ensemble.

In Romance, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Mamet (Glengarry Glen Ross) pens a "farce" set in a New York courtroom "where a low profile trial is taking place [wherein] the defendant and his attorney test the boundaries of truth and ethics, the prosecutor strains to keep his household together and the bailiff struggles to keep the judge from an accidental drug overdose."

Begley, Jr. and Bean reprise their roles from the L.A. Mark Taper Forum run opposite Goldstein who reprises the role he created Off-Broadway production. Clapp ("NYPD Blue," Glengarry Glen Ross) also appears with McLachlan ("Numb3rs," "CSI").

The 31st season at L.A.T.W. continues with Fired Again (May 3-7), The Real Dr. Strangelove (June 7-11) and another work to be announced (July 12-16). L.A.T.W.'s nationally syndicated radio show "The Play's The Thing" series is performed live at the Skirball Cultural Center. All performances are recorded for future broadcast to cities including Boston, Seattle, Santa Fe as well as on XM Satellite radio. The two-hour radio broadcasts include special backstage features and interviews with actors, playwrights and directors. The L.A. Theatre Works Audio Theatre Collection is available in bookstores, libraries, through their catalog, digitally on audible.com, the L.A. Theatre Works website and iTunes.
