SEATTLE -- In a clear sign that the new blood among Seattle Equity houses Equity Theatres is a positive thing, Seattle Repertory Theatre will house a Best of the Fest Showcase of the most popular works from The 1998 Seattle Fringe Festival. The Eight Annual Fringe Festival runs Mar. 12-22, with 90 companies from all over the world giving 518 performances in 11 venues. Audience members vote their 3 favorite productions, and they will be showcased at the Seattle Rep, Mar. 27-29.
Obviously artistic directors Sharon Ott (at The Rep) and Gordon Edelstein (at A Contemporary Theatre, which is one of the main festivals sites) have seen that in order for all Seattle theatre to thrive and prosper, it was vital to tear down the wall that separated the Equity houses from the Fringe.
