Tony Award winners Beth Leavel and Bob Martin will join other members of the original 2006 Broadway musical The Drowsy Chaperone for two concert performances of the show 7 and 9:30 PM January 8, 2018, at Feinstein’s/54 Below in New York City.
Designed as a “recreation” of a mythical 1920s style musical, The Drowsy Chaperone has music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison with book by Don McKellar and Martin, both of which were awarded Tonys.
Produced by The National Alliance for Musical Theatre, the reunion concert will also include original Broadway cast members Eddie Korbich (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder), Jennifer Smith (Anastasia), Jason Kravits (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Stacia Fernandez (Bandstand, Paper Mill Playhouse), Linda Griffin (Something Rotten!), Kecia Lewis (Marie and Rosetta), Angela Pupello (ABC’s Ten Days in the Valley), Kilty Reidy (Billy Elliot national tour), Joey Sorge (A Bronx Tale), and Patrick Wetzel (Billy Elliot national tour), with music direction by Phil Reno (Something Rotten!). Additional casting is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
A portion of the proceeds from the concerts will support National Alliance for Musical Theatre, whose programs include the 30th Annual Festival of New Musicals, which will take place on October 25–26, 2018, at New World Stages in New York City.
Feinstein’s/54 Below is located at 254 West 54th Street, beneath Studio 54, in Manhattan. Tickets, which cost $50 to $115 (plus a $25 food/drink minimum), can be ordered here. Tickets on the day of performance after 4 PM are available only by calling (646) 476-3551.
