Tony Award winner Betty Buckley, recently seen as psychologist Dr. Fletcher in M. Night Shyamalan’s film Split, will return to Joe's Pub at the Public Theater this fall with a new collection of songs.
Entitled Story Songs #2, the engagement, running October 12–15, follows the release of her critically acclaimed new CD, Story Songs.
Story Songs #2 will feature music from the American Songbook as well as the worlds of rock, pop, and the musical theatre, including songs by Joni Mitchell, Lisa Loeb, and Stephen Sondheim, with new pieces from T Bone Burnett, Jason Robert Brown, and Joe Iconis. The Broadway favorite will be joined by Grammy nominee Christian Jacob on piano, Oz Noy on guitar, Tony Marino on bass, and Dan Rieser on drums.
Buckley offered singular performances in Broadway's Sunset Boulevard, Carrie, Song & Dance, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, 1776, Triumph of Love, and Promises, Promises. She won a Tony Award for her performance as Grizabella in the Broadway production of Cats, and she starred on the London stage in Promises, Promises, Dear World, and Sunset Boulevard, earning an Olivier Award nomination for her work in the latter.
