News Big Fish Will Swim Back to Chicago; Cast Revealed The Andrew Lippa musical Big Fish, which premiered in Chicago in spring 2013 prior to its Broadway run, will return to the Windy City beginning July 25 in a new production by the Jedlicka Performing Arts Center.

Directed by Dante J. Orfei, performances will run through Aug. 9.

Big Fish features music and lyrics by Grammy and Tony nominee Lippa with a book by Grammy and BAFTA Award nominee John August. The musical, which played a short-lived Broadway run last season, is based on the 1998 novel by Daniel Wallace and the subsequent 2003 film by August.

Big Fish will have music direction by John Warren and choreography by Dina DiCostanzo. Jedlicka is a professional, non-equity theatre company, which has produced such works as Miss Saigon, Tommy, Whistle Down the Wind, Evita, Legally Blonde, Sunset Boulevard and more in recent years. 

The cast includes Edward J. MacLennan as Edward Bloom, Marisa Boynton as Sandra Bloom, Taylor Okey as Will Bloom, Morgan Glynn Briggs as Josephine, Landon Barnickel as Young Will, Jonah D. Winston as Karl, The Giant, Jordan Taylor as Don Price, Peter Rugar as Zacky Price, Daniel Hurtado as Dr. Bennett, Louie Bartolomeo as Amos Calloway, Jerica Exum as The Witch, Aimee Erickson Langenfield as Jenny Hill and Warren Karas as The Mayor.

The ensemble cast also includes Heidi Buyck, Alex Campea, Christie Coran, Brianne DeFrang, Michael DeFrang, Matthew Dunn, Nic Eastlund, Alicia Hurtado, Kelly Maryanski, Allyssa O'Donnell, Jenna Payne, Jordan Taylor, Katherine Trainer, Laura Williams and JZ Zaeske. The creative team includes Michael Nedza (scenic designer/technical director), Genesee Spridco (costume design), Dante J. Orfei (lighting design) and Michael Kott (multimedia design).

Big Fish, according to press notes, "centers on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest… and then some! Edward's incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him – most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales. Big Fish is about dreaming, loving and living bigger."
