News   Bill Van Horn, David Raphaely, Alex Keiper and Krista Apple Will Star in Walnut Street's Proof Walnut Street Theatre will present David Auburn's award-winning drama Proof beginning Jan. 17, 2012, prior to an official opening Jan. 19, at Walnut's Studio on 3. The limited engagement will continue through Feb. 5.

Following the limited engagement at Walnut Street, the production will embark on a national tour and will take part in the 2012 Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts. Proof is the second national tour of a Walnut Street Theatre production, following last season's The Glass Menagerie.

Directed by Kate Galvin, Proof will star Bill Van Horn as Robert, David Raphaely as Hal, Alex Keiper as Catherine and Krista Apple as Claire.

Here's how Walnut Street bills the production: "Everyone has parents and everyone aspires to be like them in some way. But what happens when there's a distinct possibility that we may inherit their talent—and their madness? Proof is a remarkable and luminous play about fathers and daughters, genius and insanity, legacy and truth. The play introduces us to a young woman, haunted by her father's death. She seems to have inherited his talent for numbers. Or has she?"

Other members of the creative team include set designer Andrew Thompson, lighting Designer J. Dominic Chacon, sound designer Cory Neale and costume designer Lauren Perigard.

Proof was originally produced by the Manhattan Theatre Club in May 2000 and premiered on Broadway in October 2000. In 2001 the play was awarded the Drama Desk Award for Best New Play, the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play, the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Best Play, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play. The Independence Studio on 3 is located at 825 Walnut Street in Philadelphia, PA.
