News Billy Elliot and Hedda Gabler Top 2006 Olivier Awards Billy Elliot – The Musical and Hedda Gabler each scooped four awards at the 30th annual Laurence Olivier Awards held in London, Feb 26, 2006.

Brian Dennehy received the Best Actor Award for his Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman, while Eve Best took the Best Actress gong for her Hedda Gabler.

For the Best Actor in a Musical Award, the accolade was split between James Lomas, George Maguire and Liam Mower who rotated in the title role of Billy Elliot. The equivalent Best Actress award went to Jane Krakowski for her portrayal of Adelaide in Guys and Dolls. And Sir Ian McKellen received the Society of London Theatre’s Special Award, for his outstanding contribution to theatre.
