News Birkenhead and Kissel Discuss Musical Comedy on May 5 "Theater Talk" The May 5 broadcast of "Theater Talk," the PBS chat show that features interviews with top theatre practitioners, will feature appearances by lyricist Susan Birkenhead and critic Howard Kissel.

Birkenhead and Kissel will be on hand to discuss Lehman Engels' 1971 tome, "Words with Music: Creating the Broadway Musical Libretto." The book was recently updated and revised by Kissel and re-released by Applause Books. Susan Birkenhead wrote the lyrics for Triumph of Love and Jelly's Last Jam, contributed lyrics to Working and penned additional lyrics for High Society and King of Schnorrers. She won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lyrics for Jelly's Last Jam.

Howard Kissel is the chief drama critic for The Daily News.

Hosted by New York Post theatre columnist Michael Riedel and producer Susan Haskins, "Theater Talk" airs on WNET/Thirteen at 12:30 AM ET. The program can also be seen on CUNY-TV (Channel 75).
