Part of New York City’s Gay Pride celebrations, “Divas with Pride” will be presented at the Symphony Space Theatre. Show time is 8 PM.
B.J. Crosby recently portrayed Matron “Mama” Morton in the hit Broadway revival of Chicago. She also starred on Broadway in the revival of One Mo' Time, and she earned a Tony nomination for her work in the long-running revue Smokey Joe's Cafe. Crosby’s other theatrical credits include roles in “Dreamgirls” and George C. Wolfe’s “Harlem Song.”
Martha Wash began her musical journey in the seventies as half of the disco group Two Tons of Fun, singing with Sylvester. Two Tons of Fun eventually became The Weather Girls, and they received a Grammy nomination for the hit song “It’s Raining Men.” Wash’s recordings with Black Box include “Strike It Up” and “Everybody, Everybody.”
Openly gay comedian Marga Gomez began her career in San Francisco. In the eighties she joined forces with other Latino comics to create the acclaimed Latino comedy troupe Culture Clash. She has appeared on HBO’s “Comic Relief,” Showtime’s “Latino Laugh Festival” and Comedy Central’s “Out There.”
