Larry McMurtry, a Pulitzer Prize winner for his Texas rangers and cowboys in "Lonesome Dove," is one of the writers to be read by Texas actors James Black, Julie White and Raphael Parry June 4 at Houston's Alley Theatre.

Black played Butch Fallon in the London, Alley and Broadway productions of Not About Nightingales. He has portrayed a wide variety of characters at the Alley, from Roy Cohn in Angels in America, Buzz Hauser in Love! Valour! Compassion!, the title role in Macbeth, Agatha Christie's detective Hercule Poirot in Black Coffee and multiple roles in Mere Mortals.

White appeared on Broadway in The Heidi Chronicles and original cast of Dinner With Friends. Parry was co-founder and co-artistic director of Dallas' Undermain Theatre where he performed in Uncle Bob, Two Saints, Sarajevo and Goose and Tom Tom.

They will be reading McMurtry's "There Will Be Peace in Korea," Glenn Blake's "How Far Are We From the Water," Pamela Diamond's "Whitey" and Mary Robison's "Yours."
