The long-running Off-Broadway (and international) performance trio Blue Man Group has released Three, the ensemble's third studio album, featuring 14 new instrumental tracks.
The new album draws inspiration from two-and-a-half decades of creative growth and development, weaving sounds from the ever-evolving live show and unique performances at Brazil's Carnaval, Coachella and more.
In signature Blue Man Group style, the instrumental music is produced using an eclectic mix of instruments and tools. These include a "Snorkelbone," a creation that utilizes a plastic hose to produce a whirring, pulsating tone when swung in the air; a Didgeridoo-inspired PVC instrument; and the Chimeulum, which is described as “orchestral chimes on steroids”; among others. The album mixes tribal drumming, soaring melodies and elements of EDM.
The group released the world-premiere video for “Giacometti,” the first single from the new album. Watch it below:
