Variety reports that original Blue Man Group members Matt Goldman, Chris Wink and Phil Stanton will star in the film that is being created for the 3-D medium. Charlotte Huggins, who produced the 2008 "Journey to the Center of the Earth" in 3-D, has partnered with Blue Man on the film that will be released in standard 3-D screen format in addition to Imax.

Creator Matt Goldman told Variety that the film will "have a story, believe it or not. It's going to have real science content, and we're excited about being in the neuroscience space." Filming is scheduled to begin in June 2009, with an expected 2010 Imax debut.

Known for comedic physical comedy and interactive stage productions Blue Man Group would seem an ideal match for 3-D medium. The Off-Broadway hit — which also plays in Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Berlin, Tokyo and Oberhausen — remains attuned to pop culture.

Blue Man has appeared on "Scrubs" and "America's Got Talent." The group released its "Live at The Venetian – Las Vegas" album on iTunes. Also available is a new CD/DVD entitled How to Be a Megastar Live! and (with Toyquest) a line of Blue Man Group instruments.
