Slaughterhouse Five features music by Jed Feuer with book and lyrics by Adele Ahronheim. Gabriel Barre will direct, and the cast will be led by Tony nominee Bobby Steggert in the role of Billy Pilgrim. Albert Ahronheim is the musical director.

The new musical, according to press notes, "follows Billy Pilgrim, a young man who is ripped from optometry school and thrown into the Battle of the Bulge. As he bounces back and forth from childhood to old age, from WWII POW camps to marriage and alien abduction to the planet Tralfamador, Billy grapples with the trauma of war and struggles to find peace along the way."

Vonnegut’s 1969 satirical novel "Slaughterhouse-Five" is ranked 18th on the Modern Library’s list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century.

Somerled Charitable Foundation is producing the reading.
