Paul Holdengr‹ber will moderate the 7 PM discussion, which is entitled "Cognitive Theatre." The evening unites Gelb and Sher, who staged Il Barbiere di Siviglia, From the House of the Dead director Ch_reau and current Tosca director Bondy. The four will discuss theatre, opera and the art of direction.
Bartlett Sher received a 2008 Tony Award for his direction of the Lincoln Center Theater revival of South Pacific. He earned Tony nominations for each of his other Broadway directorial outings, including Joe Turner's Come and Gone, The Light in the Piazza and Awake and Sing!
In addition to his work for the Broadway stage, Sher has been named the resident director of Lincoln Center Theater and will stage Offenbach's Les Contes d'Hoffmann for the Met this season.
