News Boomers Reading to Feature Brown, Freeman, Larsen and More The York Theatre Company's Developmental Reading Series will continue May 1 with a free reading of the new musical Boomers.

Directed by Maggie L. Harrer with music direction by Irwin Fisch, the reading will boast the talents of Jeb Brown (Grease), Cheryl Freeman (The Who’s Tommy), Karl Hammerle, Liz Larsen (Hairspray), Paul Oakley Stovall ("Shortbus") and Ken Triwush (Titanic). Show time is 3 PM. Boomers was penned by David Buskin and Jake Holmes. The musical, according to press notes, is a "witty, wry and often moving look at the generation that didn't trust anyone over 25 and grew up refusing to grow up. Planning to live forever, they are chagrined to find themselves aging. Sandwiched between the Greatest and Millennium generations, they are struggling to cope with universal issues of relationships, family and ideals of personal fulfillment."

The reading will be presented at the York's home at The Theatre at Saint Peter's on 54th Street, east of Lexington Avenue. Although the reading is free, reservations are required by emailing Jeff Landsman at [email protected] (include name, phone number, the show's title and the number of tickets) or by calling (212) 935-5824, ext. 24.
