News Bosco, Chalfant and Easton to Read Lincoln's Favorite Shakespeare Speeches at NYPL Theatre veterans Philip Bosco, Kathleen Chalfant and Richard Easton will take part in "O, My Offence is Rank": Lincoln's Favorite Shakespeare Speeches at the New York Library for the Performing Arts on March 2.

Tony winners Philip Bosco (Heartbreak House, Lend Me a Tenor), Richard Easton (Coast of Utopia, Bridge Project Cherry Orchard/Winter's Tale) and Tony nominee Kathleen Chalfant (Wit, Angels in America) will read selected speeches from Shakespeare works — including King John, Hamlet, Othello, King Lear and Henry IV — at 6 PM in the Bruno Walter Auditorium. Harold Holzer will provide context for the selections. According to NYPL press notes, "Lincoln carried a volume of Shakespeare's plays with him around the White House, frequently reading aloud to family and staff, and purportedly outshining any professional of the day with his interpretation of Richard III's opening soliloquy."

The event is free and open to the public. For further information phone (212) 870-1630 or visit NYPL.
