News Boyle, Roach, Feig and More Win Directors Guild Awards The 61st Annual Directors Guild of America Awards, which honor directorial achievement in film and television, were presented Jan. 31 at the Hyatt Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, CA.

Danny Boyle won the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for "Slumdog Millionaire," besting David Fincher ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"), Ron Howard ("Frost/Nixon"), Christopher Nolan ("The Dark Knight") and Gus Van Sant ("Milk"). Other winners included Jay Roach ("Recount") for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television/Miniseries; Dan Attias ("The Wire") for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series; Paul Feig ("The Office") for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Comedy Series; Brent (Bucky) Gunts (Opening Ceremony Beijing 2008 Olympic Summer Games) for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Musical Variety; Tony Croll ("America's Next Top Model") for Outstanding Achievement in Reality Programs; Larry Carpenter ("One Life to Live") for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Daytime Serials; Ari Folman ("Waltz with Bashir") for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentary; Peter Thwaites (Production Company: Gorgeous Enterprises) for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in in Commercials; and Amy Schatz ("Classical Baby (I'm Grown Up Now) 'The Poetry Show'") for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Children's Programs.

Hosted by Jon Cryer, presenters for the evening included Amy Adams, Michael Apted, Christian Bale, Josh Brolin, Gil Cates, Joel Coen, Ethan Coen, Claire Danes, Viola Davis, Lisa Edelstein, Jodie Foster, Rachel Griffiths, Richard Jenkins, Frank Langella, Melissa Leo, Michelle Monaghan, Dev Patel, Sean Penn, Freida Pinto, Michael Shannon, Michael Sheen, Steven Soderbergh, Marisa Tomei and Blair Underwood. (Carl Reiner had been scheduled to host, but bowed out due to food poisoning.)
