On June 28, David McVicar's production of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro will be the second of three performances from the Royal Ballet and the Royal Opera House to be simulcast as part of the BP Summer Big Screens series. Kyle Ketelsen, Isabel Bayrakdarian, Soile Isokoski and Michael Volle star.
The Royal Ballet's presentation of The Sleeping Beauty was shown on June 1, and Andrei Serban's staging of Puccini's Turandot, starring Georgina Lukšcs, Ben Heppner, Elena Kelessidi and Robert Lloyd, will be broadcast live on July 7.
Locales hosting the screenings include Aberdeen, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Rotherham (South Yorkshire), Hull, Leeds, Ipswich, Belfast, Bradford, Plymouth and Windermere as well as four locations in London.
In Manchester's Exchange Square, where Figaro and Turandot will be shown, England's World Cup matches were being broadcast as well; they had to be abandoned due to rowdy footie fans, according to the BBC. (Are we certain that opera fans will be better behaved?)
