On February 17, Broadway artists will gather at Midtown’s The Green Room 42 for Artists for World Peace on Broadway 8.
Co-produced by Wendy Black-Nasta (the founder and executive director of Artists for World Peace) and Sharone Sayegh (The Band’s Visit), the evening will feature Tony nominee Brandon Uranowitz (Falsettos, An American in Paris), Rebecca Naomi Jones (Oklahoma!, Hedwig), Lisa Brescia (Dear Evan Hansen), as well as Gilbert L. Bailey II (Beetlejuice, A Bronx Tale), , Andréa Burns (On Your Feet!, In The Heights), Britney Coleman (Tootsie, Sunset Boulevard), A.J. Holmes (The Book Of Mormon), Pomme Koch (The Band’s Visit), Bonnie Milligan (Head Over Heels), Eric William Morris (King Kong, Mamma Mia!), Sayegh, Nasia Thomas (Ain’t Too Proud, Beautiful), Alysha Umphress (On The Town, American Idiot), Vishal Vaidya (Groundhog Day), Teal Wicks (The Cher Show, Wicked), Tony nominee Lauren Worsham (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder), and a special performance by The Band’s Visit’s onstage musicians Ossama Farouk and Samir Shukry.
Proceeds will support AFWP Native Eyes Project, which will bring free eye care to 1,500 tribal members of the Rosebud Researvation in South Dakota. Beginning in 2014, AFWP has brought free eye care to thousands of people as far away as Tanzania and as close as Connecticut. Robbie and Paul Rescigno will host the evening with music direction by Drew Wutke.
