The national competition will enable 50 students — ages 10 to 17 — to visit New York City and meet with Broadway actors for inside advice. The actors, young and old, will then appear together in a specially designed performance on a New York stage. Bravo's vice-president of marketing, Eric Conaty, said in a statement, "As a network committed to showcasing the finest arts and entertainment, Bravo is also dedicating itself to the essence of that culture, the theatre arts programs in our schools. The stars of tomorrow are studying at our schools today, and Bravo wants to offer them this once-in-a-lifetime experience. We're proud to have cable operators from across the country joining us to bring a unique and valuable educational opportunity to the communities we all serve."
Those interested in entering the student contest, should log on to www.bravotv.com and click on the "On With the Show" link to download the entry form. Applicants are required to submit the short entry form along with a teacher letter of recommendation. Applications must be received by Dec. 8, 2003. Semi-finalists will be chosen from the initial round of applicants, and will then be asked to submit a 500-word essay to determine the grand prize winners.
