1999 Tony Award winner Brian Dennehy is expected on Broadway this spring in Long Days Journey Into Night, but before the busy thespian returns to the Great White Way, he'll join the list of celebs performing The Exonerated.
Dennehy won't join the sit-down production Off-Broadway, however, but launch a mini-tour of the Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen show, playing Washington, DC, Boston and Chicago, where he will be joined by other celebrity guests.
Mia Farrow and Chad Loew will join Dennehy at DC's Warner Theatre Jan. 14-19. Both are veterans of the Off-Broadway production as is Marlo Thomas who will perform in both Boston (Jan. 21-Feb. 2, Wilbur Theatre) and Chicago (Shubert Theatre, Feb. 4-16).
Complete casting of The Exonerated has not yet been announced. Bob Balaban, who directed the New York production and assisted on the L.A. premiere, will also helm the tour.
The Exonerated is drawn from the stories of a half-dozen former death row inmates who shared a variety of experiences and feelings with playwrights Blank and Jensen. Most described losing their faith in the justice system, while discovering that it was the resources available to a defense team that made the difference between achieving justice or experiencing a miscarriage of it.
